Book of Mormon

I started a 'read the Book of Mormon in 40 days' program 43 days ago - and finished today! Am I disappointed that I read it in 43 days not 40? Not one bit. It was such an amazing experience that I can't help but be happy with my efforts. The truth is if I skipped a day (which happened a little too often) I actually felt a void - it's a little hard to explain. Anyway, I just want to share my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know it has been given to us as a gift to bless our lives and lead us on the path to eternal life.

At times during my reading I got frustrated with the people who continually fell into the 'pride cycle' - and then I realized that they didn't each have personal copies of the scriptures like we do today. Their prophets had sometimes a single copy, but the people did not. Would things have gone a little better for them had they been able to study their scriptures in their homes as a family each day? Of course I really don't know. But I do know that today we are so blessed to have access to the words of the prophets both ancient and contemporary - if we choose to take advantage of it. I love the term 'less is more' and use it often, but I have learned over the last 43 days that when it comes to reading the Book of Mormon, 'more is more'!

Two Years Old!

You'll just have to believe me when I say our family party for Clara's birthday was great. She looked darling in her new birthday dress, her home-made Oreo ice cream cake was yummy, she absolutely loved all the presents she got, and having so many family members around at once is always a treat. You'll just imagine the whole scene because the dozens of pictures I took of the event are, well, no where. I discovered a few hours after the party that my SD card wasn't in my camera! And as much fun as we had there's just no way to re-inact the whole thing, so all I have to remember Clara's 2nd b-day party by is a single picture of the decorations I made and hung yesterday morning. Bummer! I'll still take a few pix of her tomorrow because that's her actual birthday, but unfortunately I don't really have anything planned (other than her 2 year check-up and shots). Brian was kind enough to say "we'll get some pictures next year" which somehow really doesn't make me feel better.
